Hi !! So that's me ! I thought I'd show you my face (and white legs) because I love seeing who's talking and just in case you're like me, well now you know :)

There are so many things I could/want to say ! But first, thank you to Carol (from SewSister) who put all this together ! I was really excited when she contacted me and I'm the only one representing Quebec so you know, I've got a bit of pressure on my shoulder to do it well. Kidding. I'm not stressed at all.

So, about me. My name is Marika, but you all know that. I'm 23 and I am studying to become a teacher for children with learning disabilities and I just love what I do right now :) During the weekends, you can always find me working as a waitress in a restaurant called St-Hubert (very popular here. I was told it's a little bit like Swiss Chalet).
I live with my boyfriend of 5 years. In fact, we bought our first house this summer ! I think we're getting used to living together. It's not perfect, but we're going well :) I also have two cats that I love. If you're already been here, you know that but just in case, I'll show you a picture of them because they are the cutest.

That's my Yoda

And this is Maya, but I never call her by that name.

Ok now onto the quilting stuff. I started quilting either at the end of 2009 or at the beginning of 2010.
This is were all the magic happens  :
I moved things a little but I'm still sewing in there.

I started blogging last year in November and I've met so many wonderful ladies so far !
I love participating in swaps too. I've been really lucky so far because I've had such wonderful partners !
You can see what I've made on my blog or on Flickr

My most popular post (aside from the Sew, Mama, Sew giveaway day) is the one about the Somerset Star.. I still love this pillow very much and it lives on my couch but I don't really use it since the pieces are hand sewn.

I also recently made one for Tiffany, one of the wonderful lady I was talking about.
(I hope you don't mind if I borrowed you're picture Tiff)

I'm going to show you just a few of my most recent projects ok ?

Sew Sew Modern Swap pillow
Modern She Made Swap 2

Pillow Talk Swap 9
I do make quilts too :) Don't worry. But pillows are so fun because they allow me to try something new that I wouldn't necessarily want to make in a whole quilt !

Now, onto the fun stuff - the giveaway.
I was allowed to choose what I wanted to to win and I picked a book !
If you win, I would love to know if you liked the book or not. And even though I'm not the kind of girl who likes to follow a pattern, quilting books are full of inspiration !

To enter the giveaway, umm tell me something about you. Anything !
If you are a follower, leave me a second comment (new or old).
The giveaway is open to everyone :)

And now, don't forget to look at those blogs from fellow "Québécois" (people who live in Quebec). I certainly will :)

Have a good day everyone and thank you to Carol again !!

I love those cute pillows that you've made! I have never made a pillow, but I agree that it is a great way to try out a new block or pattern without committing to a whole quilt. I actually have that book! I don't buy a lot of quilting books, but I took this one out of the local library and liked it so much that I bought it. One of the authors, Cheryl Arkison, is a Canadian (Alberta) blogger as well. Her blog is Dining Room Empire.

I live in Ontario, and I love St. Hubert! There used to have them in Eastern Ontario, but I think they have all closed. Swiss Chalet is okay, but St. Hubert is the clear winner on sauce. (I can but the sauce in a can at the grocery store, but it just isn't the same.)
I like your pillows, they are so cheery and bright.

About me... I love biking, and I use a Dutch cargo bike (aka Bakfiets) to ride my kids to school. It's 15Km round trip... my quads are so toned, but they look really out of place with the rest of my body - mummy tummy and so on.

I love "Pillow Talk Swap 9" and "Modern She Made Swap 2", but really, all your work is so attractive! I've hand-sewn since I was 8 or 9, but not much recently except for some dolls. I'm getting back into machine sewing and planning on using scraps for quilt blocks. I'll be checking in here at least once a week, for the inspiration as well as the posts. ~ Linne

This is my second comment; I'm a new follower. The book looks very interesting. I've been taking piles of sewing and quilting books (among others, of course) out of the library for a while now. I own quite a few, but they are in storage for now, so I'm lucky the library hasn't gotten rid of the crafting books yet. ~ Linne

I love your amazing cushions, thanks for sharing. A little fact about me; although I live in England my 2 favourite books as a child are set in Canada, one is Anne of Green gables and the other is Susannah of of the Mounties. Thanks for the giveaway, I would love the book.

Love the pillows you have made. I have been quilting for about 7-8 years and I still consider myself a beginner quilter. Always learning something about this craft. Oh to be 23 again!!!!

Those are some impressive cushions! Uh, well something about me... well I had crutches for almost 6 months until this Thursday evening when I was finally able to ditch them! A wonderful feeling, for sure :)

I have been sewing for quite a few years but I still feel like a novice.

I really want to make a quilt out of old ties and reclaimed tweed jackets, with of bit of my dad's old corduroy pants in there too. I was thinking of doing it as string piecing, what do you think?

Thanks for hosting this giveaway.

Is that what your sewing space always looks like? Mine looks like a "creative explosion" happened! Next week is clean-up week so I can find stuff for projects I'm working on.

Something about me - does saying I think your work is amazing count? Maybe that I wish I'd learned to sew when I was in my 20s! Thank you for the giveaway!

I keep hoarding pillow patterns but have yet to make one. My latest projects have all been table runners, like pillows, they are small and fast and an easy way to practice something new. I think what is holding me back is the fortune I could spend in pillow forms! Thanks for the give away!

Lets see, something about me! Well, I didn't become a grandmother until I was 55 years old and that is what got me started quilting. I made a simple baby quilt that was just sewing 6 inch squares of fabric together and doing machine embroidery on some of the squares. Oh by the way I like your sewing area!

Beautiful pillows and your cats are absolutely adorable!! And I'm wondering how you keep your sewing space so neat!! :-))
